14.6%: drama ‘Hyena’ ends with a bang!

K drama Hyena

SBS’s legal drama “Hyena” wrapped up Saturday with its highest viewership rating of 14.6 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.

The 16-part TV series, starring Kim Hye-soo and Ju Ji-hoon, revolved around two lawyers Jung Geum-ja (Kim) and Yoon Hee-jae (Ju), who had to fight tooth and nail like hyenas to survive in their world. Thanks to its star-studded cast and finely crafted storyline, the soap opera had been sailing strongly in terms of viewership. Since its premiere on Feb. 21, ratings had hovered around 9-12 percent.

“I devoted much affection to Jung, a very impressive character,” Kim said in a recent interview as she shared her feelings on ending the series. “All cast and crew worked in perfect harmony and I still can’t believe that the end has come.” Ju said, “I am thankful to our viewers for sending love to Yoon. I have felt so rewarded as an actor.”

“Hyena” will be replaced by the romantic fantasy series “The King: Eternal Monarch,” featuring Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun. Star writer Kim Eun-sook penned the soap opera, which is set in a “parallel universe.”
