2022 BTS Seoul concerts draw 2.46M viewers
A combined 2.46 million people worldwide saw in real time the BTS concerts on March 10, 12 and 13 held at the main stadium of Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul’s Songpa-gu District.
The group’s management agency Big Hit Entertainment on March 14 said the three concerts of the “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Seoul” series drew 45,000 fans offline. The March 10 and 13 events attracted 1.02 million online through livestreaming and the “live viewing” event on the 12th 1.4 million.
The live viewing concert on March 12 was livestreamed at 3,711 movie theaters in 75 countries. The 1.4 million people who watched it is a global record for non-film content shown at film screens worldwide.
The livestream at theaters was intended to overcome the inevitable capacity limits at the concert hall due to COVID-19 and convey a lively atmosphere at the event.
The U.S. magazine Variety on March 13 said the livestreamed concert at theaters raked in USD 32.6 million (KRW 40.2 billion) at the global box office.
“In a rare, one-night-only event, Hybe and Trafalgar Releasing brought the concert to movie theaters across the country to blockbuster results,” it added.
From April 8-9 and 15-16 Pacific Standard Time, the septet is scheduled to hold in-person concerts in Las Vegas.
