Taeyang, a member of K-pop group BIGBANG, began his 21-month mandatory military service Monday.
On March 12 at around 1:45 p.m. KST, he entered the recruit training center of the 6th Infantry Division. Before entering, he said goodbye to YG Entertainment staff and also greeted fans who were waiting, shaking their hands and speaking in different languages for the non-Korean fans.
After the training, he is expected to be assigned to an Army unit in the region, where he will serve out the rest of his duty. His wife, actress Min Hyo-rin, did not see him off there.
Another BIGBANG member, Daesung, will join the military on Tuesday, when the group will release a special song titled “Flower road” as a message for fans.
