BLACKPINK’s ‘Ice Cream’ M/V has reached 100 million views in a Day and half

BLACKPINK’s music video for “Ice Cream” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube in a day and a half. With this, BLACKPINK has produced its 21st 100 million-view video and once again showed off its reputation as a YouTube queen.


According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s music video for “Ice Cream” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube at 5:56 a.m. on the 30th of August. It’s only been 40 hours and 56 minutes since it was released at 1 p.m. on the 28th. This is the second fastest music video ever released by BLACKPINK after “How You Like That” (32 hours).

“Ice Cream” is a pop genre song with simple rhythms and cheerful sounds, and the music video captivated global music fans with its cute and refreshing concept that BLACKPINK first tried. This was a new challenge for BLACKPINK, whose powerful performance was the biggest attraction based on hip-hop bass music, and an opportunity to identify a wide musical spectrum.

In fact, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has exploded. The number of subscribers to BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has increased by as much as 100,000 per hour on the day of the release of the music video for “Ice Cream,” recording more than 46 million as of that day. Thanks to this popularity, BLACKPINK has jumped to third place in the world, following pop star Justin Bieber and DJ Marshmallow.

Black Pink’s “Ice Cream,” which also stands out on various global charts, quickly topped the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart on the first day of its release. The mainstream pop market, the iTunes Top Song Chart in the U.S. and the U.K., has remained at the top of the list for two days, ranking second and third, while the world’s largest streaming sites, Spotify Global Top 50 Chart and the U.S. Top 50 Chart, have been on the rise, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.

Also, ‘Ice Cream’ won three awards on the digital albums, new songs and music video charts of QQ Music, China’s largest music source site. In Kogou Music and Kuwo Music, it swept the top of the weekly charts in just one day.

Meanwhile, leading foreign media such as Billboard, CNN, The New York Times, Forbes, Rolling Stones, Pitchfork, and Variety in the U.S. have given a lot of positive reviews by highlighting BLACKPINK’s new song “Ice Cream” in various ways. Not only the musical changes of BLACKPINK, but also the fashion style, collaboration with Selena Gomez, and marketing strategies of YG and Interscope, which will be released in October, were all of their interests.
