BTS Wins 'BBMAs' Top Duo/Group Award for the First Time in K-pop History

K-pop sensation BTS has become the first K-pop act to receive the Top/Duo Group award from the ‘Billboard Music Awards’ (BBMAs)!

During the ‘2019 BBMAs’ awards ceremony on May 1 (local time), BTS was announced as the winner of Top Duo/Group award. BTS was nominated for the award for the first time, alongside Dan + Shay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, and Panic! At the Disco.

BTS’ leader RM delivered the acceptance speech, “Thank you, ARMY. Thank you, Billboard Music Awards. I still can’t believe that we are here on this stage with so many great artists.”

He continued, “This was only possible because of the little things we share together, the BTS and ARMY power. We are still the same boys from six years ago. We still have the same dreams, we still have the same fears, and we will have the same thoughts. Let’s keep dreaming the best dreams together. Thank you, I love you all.”

BTS Wins 'BBMAs' Top Duo/Group Award for the First Time in K-pop History

This is BTS’ fourth trophy from the ‘BBMAs’, as the group have won the Top Social Artist award for three times in a row including one in this year.
The only other K-pop act to have won an award from the ‘BBMAs’ besides BTS is PSY, who won the Top Streaming Song award in 2013.
