Discover Seoul Pass sold over 15K cards in a year

The ‘Discover Seoul Pass‘, which is a free pass for foreign tourists, sold 15,562 cards within one year of its launch.

The Discover Seoul Pass is equipped with free admission to sightseeing spots and free access to popular tourist attractions such as Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace, and N Seoul Tower. Of course, discounts can be obtained at 14 venues and duty free shops. There are two types: 24-hour pass and 48-hour pass.

One of the most noticeable changes over the past year is the 48-hour Pass release. According to the opinion of foreign tourists that the existing 24-hour pass is not enough time for sightseeing, it has expanded the number of classes to 48 hours and expanded the number of free admission sightseeing spots from 14 to 21. At the same time, the number of retail outlets has greatly expanded from 11 to 29. In May, a limited edition version of KPOP stars was released in collaboration with SM Entertainment to attract foreign tourists.

The PyeongChang Winter Olympic Limited Pass will be released in October to support the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. Seoul and Gangwon provinces can be used as a single card to enhance the convenience of foreigners visiting PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.

Seo Byung-gon, head of the Seoul Tourism Marketing Strategic Management Division, said, “We will expand and strengthen services such as the launch of Mobile Pass to meet the needs of the ever-growing individual tourists (FIT).

The price of the pass is 39,900 won, which is 70% more than the total entrance fee of 152,000 won for each visit to 16 tourist facilities. Therefore, even if you visit only some of the 16 paid tourist facilities in 24 hours, you will enjoy the benefits above the purchase price. Pass holders can also get a 10 to 20 percent discount on city tour buses during their travels.
