South Korean boy band BTS was formed only about six years ago but their massive fandom is on a spree to make them popular all over the world. Time and again, BTS Army, as their fans like to call themselves, would make hashtags trend worldwide on Twitter, watch their music videos on repeat and break records. RM aka Rap Monster aka Kim Namjoon has turned a year older today.
250 fans of BTS gathered around the landmark clock tower on the Jamsil side of Han River Park last Saturday to celebrate RM’s birthday, which falls on Sept. 12, with the forestation project. The fans planted 1,250 trees at the park, honoring RM’s steady interest in environmental issues and named it “RM Forest No. 1.”
For the project, RM’s fans donated a total of 11,114,000 won ($9,140), the sum of 1,994,000 won, indicating the year 1994 of RM’s birth and 9.12 million won that signifies his birthday of Sept. 12.
ARMY’s social movements like this have been complimented as great ways to express their admiration of celebrities. Happy Birthday, Namjoon!
