'Mask', being the center of fashion and beauty in COVID-19 Situation

This summer, the center of fashion and beauty is changing to masks. While wearing masks in everyday life is mandatory, products with functionality as well as convenience in hot weather are gaining popularity.
According to the online mall G-market on the 9th, sales of masks and ear protection products surged 860% over the same period of the previous month for the month of July (1st to 31st).

During the same period, sales of mask necklaces that can be worn after wearing masks around the neck increased by 169% and mask cases that can be stored separately by 23%.
Mask necklaces, the popular item ‘loss-prevention mask necklaces and straps’ are also ranked among the best products list in G-market jewelry and watches.

Fashion masks that emphasize individuality are also popular.

Clothing company KUKDONG recently signed a contract to supply 4 million pieces of fashion masks (face covering) worth 3.5 billion won with one of the major buyers.

The product is a face covering with team logos such as Major League Baseball(MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League, (NFL), and the British Premier League.

Experts predicted that the ‘fashion itemization’ of masks will continue in the future.

Lee Eun-hee, professor of consumer science at Inha University, said, “As Corona 19 is prolonged, consumers who are tired of wearing the same ‘white’ mask every day are actively expressing their individuality on the mask. I think a variety of fashion masks will be born.”
