Miryang Arirang Festival information

Arirang is a national folk song that was registered in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.
Arirang was created by a warrior monk during the Imjin War to express the principles and faithfulness of the Korean people under Sung Confucianism. There are many varieties of the song throughout each region, with changes happening continually over time. Miryang Arirang Festival celebrates this important intangible heritage through many programs and performances. Visitors can experience both the similarities and differences of the three major styles of Arirang (Miryang Arirang, Jeongseon Arirang, Jindo Arirang).
