All-you-can-eat ShabuShabu in Korea
Winter is coming in Korea, and it’s a perfect season for hot-pot! Ro-un Shabu-Shabu & Salad Bar (로운샤브샤브) would be a great place for you to enjoy hot-pot Shabu-Shabu. This is more than a shabu-shabu buffet that you can have unlimited vegetable and meat, Ro-un offers more alternatives including a diverse salad bar, ice-cream and drinks, and seasonal time-limited menus. You might have heard of a buffet named “Pizza mall”, “Ashely”, and “Soosa”. They are all from the same mother company. So some of the menus of Roun’s salad bar are the same as the ones of Ashley or Pizza mall.
If you eat at dinner time, you can always feel free to go get some more meat as much as you want! You can also add a few more thousand won and upgrade your meat choice from Australian beef to authentic Korean beef. You can enjoy not only various menus of salad bar but also unlimited meat and vegetable for only 20 bucks. Also, you get to choose the kinds of soup; regular, sukiyaki, or Chinese hot pot. While you wait for the soup to boil you can fill your plate with a scrumptious assortment of salads, vegetables to put in your broth.
When your plate’s full, you can come back to the table and customize your hot pot with meat and whatever vegetables you desire. Do this and repeat for as many times as your stomach will allow. Shabu-shabu meat is thinly sliced, so you can eat for a longer period of time without getting too sick or full as you might with regular cut meat.
Unlike usual buffets, Shabu Shabu is a popular menu even among the elderly. Shabu-shabu somehow has this healthy image because of vegetable, and raw meat. In fact, my grandmother eats quite a variety of food when she goes to the Shabu Shabu buffet. People who don’t like vegetables might enjoy having shabushabu rather than eating just vegetables. Whenever I go to Shabu-shabu buffet, I don’t think eating shabushabu makes pressure on my stomach because it’s not fried but cooked in hot water.
There are also some branches of Roun that serve the rice paper and the vegetable for the spring roll. It is another pleasure to eat shabu-shabu meat with rice paper and various vegetables with sauce! The advantage of the buffet is that you can make various combinations of prepared foods and challenge yourself by making up the new combination! There are also many kinds of beverages such as beer, soft drinks, smoothies, and tea.
After eating some savory meal foods, don’t forget to save some room for dessert! At the buffet, you can make your own Korean shaved ice dessert after you’ve had your fix of heavy foods. You can top your dessert with sweet red bean, ice cream, and other toppings. There are also several kinds of seasonal fruit as well as a wide assortment of teas and coffees to let your stomach settle. Although you might want to stay at this delicious place for as long as you can, there is, unfortunately, a two hour limit due to the high demand of people waiting in line to eat. However, just one tip for you, if there’s no waiting line outside, the staff don’t really care about the time limit LOL.
