The ‘King of K-Pop’ Rain set for PH return

Korean star Rain is coming back to Manila.

The singer, dubbed as the “King of K-Pop,” will be headlining a concert — his first in the country in seven years — at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on November 3.

He will be joined by local acts such as Jay R, Sam Concepcion, Kris Lawrence, and Dasuri Choi to name a few.

This will be his first visit to the Philippines since 2010, when he filmed the Korean television series “The Fugitive: Plan B” with co-stars Daniel Henney and Lee Na-young.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is preparing a new album scheduled for this November. His last album, “Rain Effect,” was released in 2014.

Having made his debut as a pop singer in 2002, Rain has since ventured into acting, appearing in Hollywood films such as 2008’s “Speed Racer” and 2009’s “Ninja Assassin.”

He was named in Time’s “100 Most Influential People” list in 2006 and 2011. In January, he got married to star actress Kim Tae Hee.
