Unique Mud-Flat Experience
Enjoy the beautiful beach and mudflat of Korea!
Located in the vicinity of Incheon International Airport, Masian Beach is unique in that it offers visitors an opportunity to experience both wetland and a sandy beach at the same time. When the tide is low, visitors will be fascinated by the distinctive co-existence of endless black wetlands and the ivory sandy beach. Pine trees surround the coast, giving it a distinctive charm as compared to other beaches.
From Masian Beach, visitors can see Silmido Island, which was the location of the events portrayed in, as well as the filming location of the movie “Silmido (2003),” that drew such great interest and forced the history of Korean movies to be re-written. Near the coast, there are numerous Pojangmacha (tented food stalls) offering grilled shellfish.
One of “Must-do” things in Korea is to experience the mudflat! The mudflat (called “beol” or “gaetbeol” in Korean) is a flat geological feature that results from the prolonged accumulation of sand or clay carried by tidal currents from the ocean seabed. It is hidden underwater during high tides and revealed during low tides.
If you are with kids, this tour will be a great option!
Enjoy the sea in Incheon, which takes only an hour and a half from Seoul. The beach in Incheon is one of the most popular tourist destinations among Korean people, too, because one can enjoy the sea and mudflats at the same time.
Observe the sea changing from time to time and dig up some shells and clams by your own hands on the mudflats. It will be a fun memory to throw mud toward your friends and family. For your information, mud is very good for your skin LOL
Since mudflats are the best place to study marine life, students often come for field trips.
Don’t worry about your shoes or clothes getting dirty. This tour includes the cost of equipment, so just enjoy clam-catching!
