K-Drama ‘Dokkaebi’ Guardian: The Lonely and Great God is a South Korean television series starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae. It aired on cable network tvN every Friday and Saturday at 20:00 starting December 2, 2016 until January 21, 2017. Its final episode recorded an 18.68% nationwide audience share making it the second highest rated drama in Korean cable television history, behind Reply 1988
Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an immortal goblin (Dokkaebi) and protector of souls. He lives with an amnesiac grim reaper (Jeoseung-saja) (Lee Dong-wook). who is in charge of taking deceased souls. Together, they see the dead off into the afterlife. One day Kim Shin meets a girl, Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun), who has a special ability to see ghosts, and is destined to be his bride and return him to ashes.

In episode 1 and 2 of Goblin/Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (쓸쓸하고 찬란하神 – 도깨비) (tvN, 2016-17), we see Ji Eun-Tak (Kim Go-Eun) walk down exactly the same street [Yulgok-ro 3-gil] – coming back from school in episode 1 and looking for a ghost in episode 2. This is also where she sees Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) for the first time in episode 1 when both of them pass by each other – what a great meta-reference! In episode 12, this is here where Eun-tak east sweet potatoes with Sunny (Yoo In-Na).

Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun) takes her Communication Major Essay Entrance Exam here in episode 7 of Goblin/Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (쓸쓸하고 찬란하神 – 도깨비) (tvN, 2016-17). When finished, she accidentally runs into her crush Tae-hee (Jung Hae-in), who is part of the university’s baseball team. Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) – who came here to pick up Eun-tak and is waiting in front of the Konkook University Museum – becomes an unwilling witness of their reunion. Later, in episode 12, we see her walking on the campus as a student.

Place where the Gong Yoo reading books were summoned by Kim Go-eun (featured on Episode 3). As matter of fact, this bookstore is no longer in business. However, you can still see the street art that appeared in Episode 3. Originally, this place was an industrial area. It is now converted into a special district with special shops and cafes. You may enjoy some other nice places around this area.
