“Shopping For K-POP Fans”

Let’s go shopping with Korean Unni!
Some sightseeing areas in Seoul like Dongmyo(An area in Seoul which is famous for many vintage shops) are a bit tricky for people who don’t speak Korean for the reason that people who work there are usually the elderly. With Korean Unni, you can visit wherever you want!
Hongdae(Hongik University) is a neighborhood known for its youthful and romantic ambiance, underground culture, and freedom of self-expression. Unique cafes, cozy galleries, accessory stores, fashion shops, live cafés and clubs, art markets, and gourmet eateries make this a popular hang-out for local youth and a fascinating place to walk around. These unique places plus the cultural events, street performances, and festivals held here make Hongdae an area that is always packed with people and excitement. Special streets such as ateliers’ street (lined with private institutions for art students preparing for university entrance exams), Picasso’s Street, and Club Street are also must-go places if you’re hoping to fully experience the Hongdae area.
Apart from the many local and international restaurants in Hongdae, please try Korean street food. It’s cheaper and more exciting! You should try the fried squid, the cheese chicken, Tteokbokki or Soondae. When passing by the street food stalls you most probably won’t know what kind of food you’re seeing but my advice is to try a bit of everything!
You will love the lines of street stalls around Ewha Womans University as they have tons of feminine style clothes such as dress, cardigan, sweater, top and skirt for you to choose from. Prices start from KRW 5000 ($4.27) for an item. The area around Ewha Womans University that forms a fashion street is more than just a venue for cheap clothes. It also incorporates designer shops, boutique stores, and shopping malls. Moreover, there are almost all kinds of Korean cosmetic brands in this area.
Insa-dong, located in the heart of the city, is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insa-dong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries and traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes. There are about 100 galleries in the area and you can see every example of traditional Korean fine art from paintings to sculptures. The shops in Insa-dong are very popular among all age groups because each one is unique. Insa-dong is especially popular among international tourists. This is where they can experience and see traditional Korean culture, and also purchase pieces of fine art. Without a doubt, Insa-dong is the best place to buy Korean traditional souvenirs. On the street, you can eat Korean taffy and traditional pajeon (green onion pancake).
Bukchon Hanok Village is an Instagram-worthy site to stroll through but unbeknownst to many, this quaint tourist attraction and its surrounding area have so much more to offer in terms of activities! In Bukchon that has over 600 years of history surrounding it many of these “Hanok”(Korean traditional houses) operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants, and tea houses, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience, learn and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture. Bukchon has very picturesque locations and beautiful architecture that you no longer seen in modern-day society. Overall the villages are amazing locations that everyone should see and enjoy. From Bukchon Hanok Village, you can get to Samcheong-dong quite easily. Continue walking along some alleys with Google Map turned on. Samcheong-dong is a very trendy and artsy neighborhood. There are many cafes, boutique shops, accessory shops, and handicraft shops.
As an ARMY, I expected this trip to Korea since forever. And I saw this tour and ARMY tour on facebook, and made a booking. A long review won’t be needed. Just do it. Without her, I couldn’t enjoy shopping this much and at this price! Thank you so much for Kwon once again for taking me to many local places. I was worried about coming to Korea alone, but she truly broke down my wall and worries. Thank you, again 🙂
