TWICE welcomes fans to 'fantasy park'

Girl group TWICE invited their fans to a wondrous evening party on Sunday, performing one big song after another at the “TWICELAND ZONE 2: Fantasy Park” concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, with a bit of a twist and cover songs.

All nine members’ high-pitched sweet vocals were on full display for the entire two hours and forty-five minutes of the show, which kicked off with the hit “You in My Heart” followed by “Like Ooh-Ahh,” “Cheer Up” and “Likey.”

When the girls appeared in swings suspended above the stage for the opening, the fans’ ear-splitting cheers pounded the stadium.

Under the fantasy park theme, the stage was decorated like an amusement park. “We’ll show you what a real fantasy park looks like,” said Sana, a Japanese member of TWICE.

A parade lit up the stage, while the girls left to get changed into different outfits behind the scenes.

As the 29-song setlist continued, TWICE also showed its charismatic side when they appeared in classic suits to perform “Touchdown” and “Signal,” as well as a cover of BoA’s “Valenti.”

A total of six cover songs gave the members the opportunity to stray away from their cute and lovely concept and try out various genres. For instance, Dahyun covered Rain’s “Rainism” and Jihyo, Momo, Tzuyu performed Beyonce’s “End of Time.”

“We wanted to try something different from our usual concept, which is bubbly and cute,” said Tzuyu, a Taiwanese member of TWICE. “We think the cool concept matches with us as well.”

Their set ended with a medley of hit songs. But this wouldn’t be the last time the audience could meet TWICE in the show. Having enthralled 18,000 fans in three sold-out concerts in Seoul, TWICE is set to take their fantasy park to Japan, a place where they’ve gained immense popularity so far.

Immensely popular in Japan

Since TWICE’s third Japanese single “Wake Me Up” release on May 16, it has claimed the top spot on Oricon’s Daily Singles Chart making the song one of the most popular in Japan. This phenomenon puts the girl group in quite an envious spot in Japan.

Given that three members of the group are Japanese, TWICE has received huge acclaim in Japan and topped music charts for an astonishing period of time.

Within a week of its release, TWICE has received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) with “Wake Me Up” with over 480,000 copies sold in pre-orders alone. The RIAJ certifies platinum once an album has sold over 250,000 copies.

TWICE, one of the most popular girl groups in Asia has achieved this feat with all its releases starting from their Japanese debut album “#TWICE” to singles “One More Time” and “Candy Pop.”

TWICE’s 2nd tour “TWICELAND ZONE 2: Fantasy Park IN JAPAN” concerts will take place on May 26 and 27 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama and on June 2 and 3 at Osaka-jo Hall in Osaka.
