Vietnamese visitors to Korea can expect a host of discounts and offers from Sept. 2-8 during the 2019 Vietnam Welcome Week.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Aug. 29 said that with the special summit in Busan from Nov. 25-26 to be held between Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the promotional week will offer customized guidance and tourism benefits for Vietnamese visitors.

Vietnamese-speaking guides will be stationed at immigration checkpoints of Incheon International Airport to help Vietnamese go through immigration procedures.

At welcome information desks in the Incheon airport, Gimhae Airport Customs, the Myeongdong neighborhood of Seoul and Gwangbok-ro Road in Busan, Vietnamese visitors can also receive a discount coupon booklet and souvenirs. They can also get support in case of communication problems by calling the 1330 Korea Travel Hotline.

Even after the welcome weekends, such visitors can still get benefits through Sept. 21. The coupon booklet offers discounts on programs, concerts, items at duty-free stores and accommodations at major tourist attractions including Lotte World and Petite France in Seoul and others in Gyeonggi-do Province, Busan and Daegu.

A ministry official said, “The number of visitors from Vietnam to Korea has increased 34.1% in scale over the last five years,” adding, “The welcome week period also coincides with National (Independence) Day in Vietnam (Sept. 2), so we expect a lot of Vietnamese tourists to visit Korea and create an opportunity to accelerate the growth rate of such visits.”
